Ministry Board
Meeting
November 7, 2011
Minutes
Margie Langston, Dick Wortham, Bob York, Liz Byer
Absent: Tim Byer, Pastor Steve Vetter
The meeting was opened in prayer by Becky Gitthens at 7:00
p.m.
Dick Wortham was the meeting leader and thanked Miss Lori
for another well done Harvest Party. She turned the thanks to all others who
helped and to God for bringing it all together.
The minutes were approved.
Margie Langston has requested a few ladies to help with the
Funeral Dinners so she can train up the next generation.
Dick said it would be good if she also contacted MOPS as many of our
younger moms attend that group. We will put the need in
the bulletin and on the powerpoint announcements.
We still need a committee leader for JOY Breakfast,
Communion, Nursery Leader, and All Church Dinners.
Pastor Glenn will visit with Sue Ramsey to see how long she will be doing
communion and JOY breakfast as they will be leaving town soon.
Ladies Night Out also needs a leader but Becky Gitthens said that usually
just comes about. Nursery and
All-Church Dinners is already posted in the bulletin, we will add Communion and
JOY Breakfast to the needs list after Glenn talks with Ramseys.
Everyone needs to contact each of
their committees and be sure they will have the leader’s and an alternate
leader’s names into the Elder Board in January.
If approved by the Elder Board, the new committee leaders would be in
effect in February then.
Elder Robert Clausen said they
hesitated to vote on the constitution on the 20th.
It may wait. He is hoping the
incorporation issues will be put on a back burner for now until it is properly
researched and then discussed later on down the line.
But said the Ministry Team should go ahead as planned as the Elders want
to see how it makes the transition of new board members.
Bob York asked if everyone had
received the new proposed 2012 budget information.
Please tell each committee not wait to the
last minute to make any final expenditures.
It is better if Cindy can get all the bills in by the end of November or
first part of December so she can close out the 2011 books. Please let Cindy
Curley know if a bill is going to be coming in towards the end of December so
she can be expecting it.
Christmas plans were discussed. We
were not able to use the HS Auditorium this year and due to the horrific sound
problems with the Fairgrounds Cafeteria, the December 18th Christmas
service will be at the church. Buildings
and Grounds had planned to do some work on the stage during that time, but after
much discussion the Ministry Board made the suggestion to have the work done the
2nd week of January. Buildings
and Grounds would need to get the exact amount Lockwood Carpet would need for
this job to Cindy Curley in December.
She would just write the check in December and
hold it until it was needed in January.
The ladies who usually organize
the meals for Easter and Christmas were asked where it was easier for them.
They both said the HS is a better place when an all-church meal is
shared. The tables can be set up in
advance and everyone can sit at a table to eat.
Fitting a meal in between two services at the church doesn’t allow that
and the flow is hard.
